I worked in the corporate world for 25 years and am looking to apply my experience to teaching. Serving as a mentor for years, I often personally helped through this avenue, charity, and also supporting my family and friends. My philosophy is you have to know the subject, which is the launching point for confidence. It is important for writing a personal essay, answering questions, taking a test, or public speaking. I'm able to help with reading, phonics, ESL/ELL, grammar, and English in general at the high school level.With each tutee, I go in the direction of bringing a topic into focus. I imagine the potential questions while facilitating understanding by expressing my knowledge and associated opinions in a convincing manner. If the student gains the confidence to take what they learn and approach their academic requirements head on, then I know I've done my job. I attended Michigan State University. Now living in Chicago, I am still focused on improving each day after all these years. I'll read a new book when I can, or go to the gym five days a week. Yearly travels to new destinations have added to my life experience and knowledge as well.
